The highest security standards: MEGOGO online cinema received PCI DSS certificate. What does it mean?

12 April 2017

MEGOGO VOD service has passed all necessary procedures, including audit and scanning of the information infrastructure, and conducting specialized trainings for the employees. As a result, the company received the second level of certification, which allows it to process up to 6 million card transactions per year.

PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is the main industry standard worldwide. It was established by international payment systems Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and Discover. The standard consists of 12 detailed requirements that ensure the security of payment cards holder’s data, which is transmitted, stored and processed by the information infrastructures of organizations. It confirms that the seller of the services provides a high level of data protection and guarantees a safe purchase by an online user.

According to Ivan Shestakov, Marketing Director of MEGOGO, PCI DSS is a technical recognition of MEGOGO’s high security standards of processing users’ credit cards. The company hopes that this step will also encourage the purchases by users who might have avoided buying online due to some security concerns.

“In fact, few organizations in Eastern Europe and the CIS are able to declare being certified by PCI DSS. Receiving it is a complicated, time-consuming procedure. However, we consider it of strategical importance to gradually simplify access to content to our users and to guarantee them the highest degree of protection of personal data and the security of using online services. In addition, the approval of our principles of work by international payment systems means for us the recognition of consistent development of our service and also a high degree of responsibility to our users,” says Ivan Shestakov.
